I am a big believer in this one thing.
Make it easy for readers to share your content.
In other words, don’t make them have to do any extra work. For example, if someone wants to share your post on Twitter, they should be able to do it with one click. Most of provide this option by having share buttons either at the beginning of our posts, the end, or both.
But what if you could do this within the post? For example:
I just found this great video tutorial on how to use Click to Tweet @BobWP. Click to Tweet.
Watch this short video on how to use Click to Tweet.

Nice one, Bob!
I’m sure purists would mention that this can be done somewhat automatically via PHP. But for the rest of us…
Out of curiosity, did you ever write a post about adding such functionality to your WordPress template?

Hey Mitch, thanks. And yes, there usually is some way to code things in like that. My readers are typically users so I make things as easy as possible for them. Another reason I don’t share a lot dealing with code, is if a casual user does have something like this coded in, often when they decide to remove the functionality it is intimidating for them to get into the code, so they end up having to hire someone to make the fix
So this probably answers you question as well
Thanks for stopping by!

Bob,
Good points. And how cool is it that Tom steps up to the plate with an alternative!

I agree, that’s what I love about WordPress … choices!

Bob — given that this is a WordPress blog, might I suggest the Easy Tweet Embed plugin? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-tweet-embed/
It does the same job as Click to Tweet in half the time.
Cheers!

Tom, the one thing I notice is that the URL doesn’t get shortened in your plugin, that could be challenge with long URLs and retweets is seems.
