Savvy Blogging with WordPress: Getting Started Today

Savvy Blogging with WordPress: Getting StartedThinking about jumping into the blogging waters? Got your feet wet, but struggling with identifying your WordPress blog’s purpose or growing your readership? Whether you are just starting or at a sticky point in your blogging, you’ll find your answers here.

In today’s post I am sharing a recent recording of a webinar. What will you learn in these 70 minutes?

  • How can a blog help your business?
  • Should you create a free blog on WordPress.com or host it yourself?
  • What tools can you use to manage and promote your blog?
  • What are the elements of a blog, and which widgets and plugins are a must?
  • What are some ways to make your content shine?

So why am I sharing a recording of a webinar I normally provide access to only if you registered? Recenty I have decided to no longer do my free webinars. Most of these webinars evolved from free workshops that I have done locally for the last 2-3 years. Now I have to focus on some other larger online training projects. So I figured “why not share these with my readers”?

  2. That’s a good video Bob!
I was on some similar meetup with other professional WordPress trainer and coach Bill Belew, here in California.

  3. I just have to thank you for a fantastic, easy-to-follow video! I am just starting a blog—-have domain/hosting/wordpress, and have set up most of my site—-but want all my ducks in a row before going live. I have done months of research online and through actual good old-fashioned books, but feel so lucky that I stumbled on your site. I am an absolute “beginner” and have the Genesis/Prose combo, but have been looking for further clarification on the difference between using categories versus drop-downs from my navigation bar. Your site answered some of that, but I felt so lucky to stumble on everything else your site offers.
Loved the simplicity of your WordPress: Getting Started video, felt like I was taking a class (took notes and all!)
    Thank you!

    • Hey Laura, so glad you found so much useful stuff here… always great to hear.

I know some designers and devs tend to stay away from drop downs, but I still believe there is a place for them. Really depends on so many things. As long as the navigation is still kept fairly simple with the least amount of clicks, it’s all good.
