The Events Calendar Plugin

The Events Calendar Plugin for WordPressThe Events Calendar plugin is one of several great options for your WordPress website or blog.

You can create and manage events quickly and easily with this plugin. Show off your events on your website in a calendar or an event list. The advanced templating system makes it simple for you to integrate the calendar seamlessly with your website. Other features include Google Maps integration and an upcoming events widget. It’s got everything you need to manage basic events from your WordPress website.

It also has a bunch of premium upgrades to add even more functionality. My site here uses the Events Calendar Pro, and it’s worth every cent.

  1. I like this plugin but like that Timely has a few more options like the Posterboard setting. It gives it more of a Pinterest type look and feel. They also have the option to “skin” your calendar for its own look and feel. I did use this plugin along with the widget on a site I did last year.

    • Hey Dennis thanks for sharing those comparisons. I looked at a few over time and this one fit my needs the best. The one from Timely, I do like that Posterboard setting. I think that would work better for some events and sites then others, for example, concerts etc. I found it a little hard to read myself (of course that’s just me).

The other point is interesting as far as skinning the calendar. Again I think in certain instances that would be great if you wanted to calendar to really set apart from your site, but at the same time the one I use I like because it pulls in the style sheet from my theme and makes all my event listings and calendar match the look of my site more closely. Also, if you are doing sites for clients, sometime the latter is a better option. Giving them the opportunity to start changing too many design elements can result in disaster. ;)

Both are great plugins and it’s the reason I love WordPress so much …. choices!
